Spyshots: 2010 Volkswagen Sharan, Less Camo

One by one, the heavy pieces of camo we presented you in the last set of spyshots come off the next/second generation Volkswagen Sharan, as the yet unknown release date draws ever closer. Unlike what was previously thought, it would appear the new Sharan will grow in dimensions, like its Ford, Opel or Renault competitors have also done.

The new Sharan is said to bring a revolutionary step forward from the current generation. With design cues for the front and back expected to draw inspiration from today's Golf. Two sliding doors, one on each side, will be center piece of the new Sharan.

Radical changes are also expected in the interior. As the current version is no less than 14 years old (making the Sharan the most long-selling
Volkswagen, alongside the Beetle), the breakthroughs made during this time call for a much more enhanced interior, both in terms of comfort and infotainment. A redesigned center console and new finishings are to be expected.

The biggest question, however, remain about what will the German manufacturer place under the hood of the Sharan. According to initial rumors, the most likely units to find a place in the Sharan are powerplants developing in between 115 and 200+ hp, for the petrol powered version, and up to 160 hp for the diesel ones.

All the enhancements and the long period of time between the two generations will definitely take its toll on the customers. The difference in price between the two is expected to be significant, making room for rumors saying the current version will still be offered for a year or two.
