The current Ford Mondeo was officially launched only two years ago or so but it appears that the US-based manufacturer is already working on a facelift version. Obviously, things are still kept secret, so we don't have any information regarding the future model. Except for the spyshots we're bringing you today that perfectly show us that Ford is indeed developing the facelifted Mondeo.

As you can see for yourselves, the future flavor of the model won't be too different when compared to the current Mondeo. The only notable changes are in the front of the car, while the rear side, no matter if we're talking about the taillights or the bumper, will remain untouched.

The interiors will be the same as on the current model, although Ford might adjust the trim levels and equipment, so a bunch of new features might become available. Furthermore, the engine offering will rely on the same range of options as the current lineup, in spite of report that Ford is hardly working on making its engines more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly.

The engine configurations start with a 1.6-liter and go as high as 2.5-liter petrol units and deliver between 110 and 225 bhp. Direct injection turbodiesels are available as well, with the 2.0-liter developing 115 and 140 bhp while the 2.2-liter brings out 175 bhp.

Ford recently introduced a new engine option for the British version of Mondeo, a 2.0-liter ECOnetic that develops 115 PS and releases 139 grams of CO2 every kilometer. Mated to a six-speed transmission, the engine achieves a fuel consumption rating of 54.3 mpg (5.2l/100 km) - it could go as high as 64.2 mpg (4.4l/100 km) in highway cycle which translates into a driving range of 800 miles (1,290 km).
