Spyshots: 2010 Fiat Grande Punto Undisguised

Here is a new set of photos showing the first facelift of the Grande Punto, which is expected to be released in the few months as a model year 2010. This time, the car is completely undisguised but, as you can see for yourselves, there's not much to see in the photos as the facelifted model looks very similar with the current one.

Nevertheless, we think that this must be some kind of a mule because the only difference when compared to the first Grande Punto is the addition of two new lights, probably turn lights, separated from the headlights and placed just above the front bumper. However, Fiat could have chosen to test the car undisguised while featuring the same front fascia as the previous model, which means the upcoming Grande Punto might still boast slight modification at the front.

Just as we told you when we published the first set of spyshots, the 2010 model is expected to be 90 percent similar with the current version, with no modification at the rear but slight upgrades inside and at the front. It will likely feature the same engine configurations, starting with the 1.2-liter unit developing 65 horsepower and ending with the 1.9 Multijet diesel option bringing up to 129 horsepower. Overall, there are 8 engines included in the current range, four petrol and four diesels.

Sources indicate that the facelifted Grande Punto will appear for the first time at the upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show in September, with sales likely to begin in the next few months after the show.

The next-generation Grande Punto, which will boast several styling modifications, together with new engines and upgraded interiors, is projected to arrive in 2012.
