A few days ago, we showed you the new MINI Cooper S completely undisguised. It looked a lot like the outgoing model and that upset some people.
However, while it might not be an innovator in the looks department, it will be in terms of technology. We thing the 2.0-liter TwinPower they just announced will go into the Cooper S. This would make it the first B-segment hot hatch with a 2-liter turbo petrol engine… at least if you ignore the exotic stuff.
On paper, the 2-liter Cooper S isn't that impressive. Official figures claim 192 PS and 280 Nm of torque, 300 with overboost. Smaller 1.6-liter hot hatches are pushing 200 hp. However, they say this new MINI is lighter, so we think it will push 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds.
