The BMW F15 X5 was already launched. BMW decided to give the new car a fresh face and an upgraded chassis that allows the Sports Activity Vehicle to shed some weight.
However, we all know that everyone is waiting for the second generation of high performance SAVs, more exactly the F15 X5 M. The current model is still in production and will continue to be made until the replacement car is ready.
As you can notice from the video below, BMW is hard at work, trying to make the M car better than its competition. Who are they though? Well there's the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S and the ML63 AMG, whilst Audi is still missing from this battle.
Both those models are new so the E70 X5 M needs to be replaced by an upgraded F15 model. At the moment we don't know exactly what engine the new car will be using. Considering the increasingly demanding requests from the EU, BMW might have to downsize the engine even further, whilst turbocharging could provide extra speed and power.
The current X5 dropped some significant weight compared to its predecessor but we're not completely sure it will be enough to make a huge difference as people expect. No matter what though, we're sure the M division engineers won't let us down!
