You probably didn't hear about BMW FAST up until now and that's ok, because it is a new project set out by the Bavarian company. Allegedly, FAST stands for Family Activity Sports Tourer and it's going to be some sort of mini-van.
Ok, maybe not a mini-van per say but it sure looks like one. This car will be a smaller SUV, with a size near the one the X1 has at the moment and will compete with the likes of Volkswagen's Touran, Audi's A3 Sportback and Mercedes-Benz's B-Class.
You probably figured out that we're actually talking about the 1 Series GT and one of its variations. Right now, we're suspecting BMW of introducing two choices in the 1 Series GT line-up: a 5 seater and a 7 seater, both of them oriented towards the MPV segment.
It will, of course, be front wheel drive and it will be using the UKL platform that will be incorporated in around 12 to 15 new models in both BMW and MINI ranges. The cars will probably be powered by 1.5-liter engines from the new B38 family and will have hybrid variants also, using the i3 eDrive platform.
