The Huracan Performante may be the pride and joy of Lamborghini as far as track tools are concerned. With the Spyder currently under wraps, the Sant’Agata Bolognese-based House of the Raging Bull seems that it won’t stop at the Huracan. Based on this set of spy photos, the Aventador appears to be preparing to usher in an even madder variant than the SV.
Minus a handful of limited-run derivatives such as the Veneno and Centenario, the SuperVeloce is king of the Aventador hill. Lighter than the regular model and gifted with a large wing, superior drivability, and 750 metric ponies (740 horsepower), the Aventador SV is intimidating by all means. The quad-pipe exhaust system is another reminder this raging bull means business.

Now turn your focus on spy photo gallery, and witness the exhaust system. In the place where the license plate would normally go, there’s an add-on metal plate with two round holes stamped into it. It definitely resembles the design of the Huracan Performante’s system. One of the reasons for moving the pipes higher is reduced back pressure, and a further explanation is the weight reduction achieved by the more direct physical connection with the V12.

The featured prototypes, coming in fixed-head coupe and open-top roadster body styles, don’t feature the aerodynamic trickery the Huracan Performante has. That’s because Lamborghini has a few phases to burn until the development team can start testing the aerodynamic add-ons. Taken together, the tech is known as Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva.

Seeing the tentatively-named Aventador Performante is still very much a work-in-progress job at the present moment, the debut of the new Lamborghini supercar should happen sometime in 2018 for the 2019 model year. The most likely venue for the world premiere is the Geneva Motor Show in March, with deliveries expected to kick off in the second half of the year. As for the 6.5-liter fury located bang in the middle, chances are output will go up to a Centenario-rivaling 770 PS (759 horsepower) and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft).

Until the Huracan Performante Spyder and Aventador Performante go official, Lamborghini has an all-new model in the pipeline. Confirmed to premiere in December, the Urus is hailed as "the first super sport utility vehicle."
