It’s quite something to buy a car that still turns heads a decade after it was pulled out of production. The owner of any BMW Z8 sure feels that way every day he drives it and we’re not afraid to admit that we envy every single one of them.
One such mint car was just spotted somewhere in the Netherlands and left us speechless. Its red interior is probably the best feature alongside the engine, of course.

In case you didn’t know, the Z8 was built by BMW between 1999 and 2003 and it used the same engine as the M5 of the time, the E39 model. That unit was wearing the S62 codename (given by the Motorsport division) and had 4.9 liters of displacement, distributed even between 8 cylinders that were positioned in the shape of a ‘V’.

The gearbox was a good old-fashioned 5-speed manual (even though Alpina fitted their version with a 6-speed auto) that sent all the 400 HP and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque to the rear wheels for the ultimate driving experience that was still a real thing back then and not just a marketing scheme.

With those numbers and a weight of 1,585 kg (3,494 lbs), the Roadster was capable of 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in just 4.7 seconds according to BMW. However, some independent reviewers found the car to be even faster.

Only 5,703 Z8s were built and 2,543 of them were shipped across the Atlantic, leaving only 3,160 for Europe. One of them can be thoroughly admired in the photos below. Enjoy!
