Spotify was, is, and will probably remain the number one music streaming service, though it’s also not a secret the competition in this market is getting fiercer.
Google, for example, keeps insisting on YouTube Music, and with Apple also betting big on Apple Music, it’s very clear Spotify now has to compete against the world’s top tech giants not only on the phone but also in other places where the music services are available; including in the car, that is.

Spotify has been available on CarPlay for a long time, but it’s not a secret many of us discovered a series of shortcomings the company never seemed too interested in fixing. But now that more big names are keen on evolving their music platforms, Spotify takes some time to improve its CarPlay interface, too.

As we reported earlier this month, users running beta builds of Spotify on CarPlay discovered the company added a queue button, essentially giving them the option to see what’s supposed to play next after the current song. This is one of the most anticipated features for CarPlay users, and there’s no doubt it’s a good thing it is finally happening.

But as discovered on reddit recently, there’s more to come for CarPlay users, and a home screen refresh is also planned.

Spotify will provide an experience that’s tailored to each and every one of us, with playlists and music albums displayed right on the home screen alongside other content related to what we’ve listened to before. According to the linked thread, album access also seems to be offered so theoretically, we no longer have to turn to our mobile devices for such goodies.

When exactly is this update supposed to go live for users? Nobody knows for sure, as Spotify clearly takes its time on this one. The company wants to refine the experience as much as possible before giving the go-ahead for everybody.
