Sportservice Lorinser Brings “Refinement Programme” for the A-Class Facelift

With so many fishy companies posing as tuners, it’s only natural that the more established names in the business would want to set themselves apart somehow. Sportservice Lorinser’s method was calling this tuning kit for the Mercedes-Benz A-Class facelift a “refinement programme.” Whatever works.

In spite of the pretentious name, Lorinser isn’t reinventing the wheel here, offering a pretty straight-forward package for the smallest vehicle of the Mercedes-Benz range. The current aesthetic individualization options for the A-Class available at Lorinser only include a rear bumper add-on part, but the new programme adds a modified air diffuser, further enhancing the vehicle’s sporty look.

As minor as they are, these modifications still prompted some changes in the car’s exhaust system, so Sportservice Lorinser has come up with a satisfactory solution that will fit the car both in terms of looks and sound. It’s got twin end pipes on each side, framing the dark-colored air diffuser and rounding off the car’s recently discovered aggressive stance.

Lorinser isn’t all about just the looks, providing power boosts for just about all the numerous engine variants available on the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class. Generally speaking, they’re not spectacular, but they offer that bit of extra oomph that will surely make the cars more enjoyable.

For instance, the gasoline fueled A250 4MATIC gets a bump of 34 hp, bringing the grand total to 245 hp available at 5,400 rpm. Upgraded power is available for diesel engines as well, but expect the gains to be symmetrically proportionate to the example given here.

Another area of expertise for Lorinser are the alloy wheels, so the Mercedes-Benz A-Class gets three new designs to choose from, available in either 18- or 19-inch sizes. Further technical modifications are made to the suspension system where Lorinser sports springs are fitted, lowering the car’s center of gravity by 30 millimeters (1.2 inches). There are minor alterations made to the inside of the car as well, ranging from personalized floor mats to illuminated doorsills and anodised aluminum pedals.

The rear bumper costs €680 (plus VAT, where it applies) while the exhaust system retails for €990, the same as the starting price for the performance increase modules. If this is what a “refinement programme” looks like, we’re sorry, Lorinser, but we prefer tuning. Being discreet is great, but sometimes less is simply less.
