Spooky Couple Drives Cadillac Hearses, Even Goes Camping With Them

They’re known as "funeral coaches" in the industry, but for this strange couple from America it’s a daily driver they even take camping sometimes. Crazy? No. Halloween prank? No. Just some normal (?!) man and woman who have a thing for classic Cadillac hearses.

Stephane Langelier and Deporah Hornberger are one odd couple that are as crazy about cars as most of us. Problem is, instead of collecting vintage hot rods or some classic muscle cars they’re soft spot is hearses. They currently own three of them, two 1949 models and one from 1964.

In the video report done a couple of days ago, the two claim they enjoy using these somewhat sinister vehicles as their daily drivers. In fact, they love their funeral cars so much they even use them for camping. And the mileage of the two cars stands as proof these vehicles are not just for show off.

Her hearse throws flames

While both have driven the cars for similar distances, his is older and hers is cooler because it even throws flames.

Call it crazy, weird or special, but Langelier and Hornberger couldn't be more right when they use these cars as a normal daily drive (sort of). Yes, we’re not being sarcastic. Let us explain why that is.

Today, a hearse is a funerary vehicle used to carry a coffin from a church or funeral home to a cemetery. It’s the obvious descendent of the horse-drawn carriage. But get this, originally it was considered public transportation. An elaborate framework would be erected over a coffin or tomb to which memorial verses or epitaphs were attached. It was then put on the top of horse-drawn carriages, looking much like a luggage rack.
