It is important how companies promote their products, and how the end-user perceives them. The new motorized skates made by spnKix are clearly aimed at hipsters, as the picture above clearly suggests. But are they just for posers or do they actually make sense as a valid means of transportation?
Well, they have been in development since 2010 and now they are finally available for purchase, in their final form. They feature two large wheels, one on each side of the skate, as well as a small wheel on the back, for stability.

The larger wheels are powered by 85 W motors and allow their user to reach a top speed of 13 km/h (8 mph). They draw juice from a lithium-ion battery pack which gives them an autonomy figure of around 10 km (6 miles) - more than enough for what they are, we say.

Sadly, the prohibitive pricing will make them far less appealing than they really are, as they will set you back $699 (€585). Maybe future versions will be optimized and their price will be lower, because otherwise, we don’t see them as being a financial success.
