Spider-Man Gets to Borrow Audi e-tron GT for School Project

Audi created a link with Tony Stark and the Avengers 11 years ago. But since Iron Man died to save the world in Endgame (sorry if we spoiled it), somebody else needs to take Ingolstadt's cash and plug their cars.

That somebody is Spider-Man, at least according to the latest short promo/short from Audi USA. Somehow, this feels wrong and right at the same time.

Did this happen before or after Tony died? Because if it's after, Peter got over it too fast. And if it's before, well... we saw how bad his driving skills were in Homecoming. If the friendly neighborhood hero can't handle an Audi TT Roadster, how is he going to cope with a 600 horsepower electric supercar.

Starring Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and his best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon), the video shows the pair entering the school science fair with a hand-built electric motor. Realizing they're completely outclassed, Peter calls SHIELD and they reluctantly hand him the e-tron GT concept, which is referred to as "2025."

The bad news is the car doesn't arrive in seconds from across the world, like one of Iron Man's suits. Peter has to... swing by and pick it up, drive it around town and arrives just in time for the judging.

We might be taking things too seriously, but ads like this don't do any justice to Marvel's fanbase, who are hardcore about timelines, plot, and accuracy. A short promo video is way better than a forced movie cameo, but this doesn't feel like the Spider-Man I grew up with. He would have used salvaged tech to develop something with world-changing potential and wouldn't care about frivolous things such as luxury German cars. #NotMySpiderMan

“Teaming up with Sony Pictures to showcase the latest step in Audi’s evolution—electrification—gives us a unique opportunity to better socialize this important technology with a highly engaged audience,’’ said Loren Angelo, vice president of Marketing, Audi of America. “Peter Parker represents the continuing high-tech evolution of the Audi storyline within the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
