Here’s something you don’t see every day – but apparently see more often than you should in San Antonio, Texas, according to social media users.

Passengers in a car going down highway 90 noticed a mattress placed in the bed of a white pickup truck, flapping perilously because of the speed of the vehicle and the fact that it wasn’t properly secured. Then, as expected, the mattress went flying.

The incident occurred on December 10 and the people filming it were too happy that they had managed to capture it on camera to stop and look back to see if the mattress had caused any accidents. Still, the video is funny, while serving as a lesson that you should never travel with your loads unsecured.

“My best friends and I were on our way to get ice cream from a place downtown. On Highway 90, a truck was driving with a mattress flapping in the bed of the truck. I saw it so I started recording. I caught the mattress flying out on video,” the person who shot the video says in the caption for it.

Perhaps the funniest part about the video is that it doesn’t offer a single hint that the driver of the pickup noticed what happened. That is to say, he continues going at the same speed, long after the mattress has flown off the bed of the truck. Guesses as to how far he went before he noticed something was missing are welcome in the comments.

All jokes aside, carrying items that are not properly secured can pose a serious risk to your safety and that of fellow motorists. It’s also punishable by law, with harsher sentences if the unsecured load causes an accident while on the road. The same goes for transporting items that are too large for the vehicle you’re driving.
