The driver of a gorgeous 2018 Morgan Plus 4 was momentarily distracted while speeding on the motorway near Telford, in Shropshire, U.K., and hit the brakes a little too late, rear-ending one of the slow-moving cars.
The Morgan Plus 4, being based on the original 1950 model, lacks modern safety equipment, so the elderly gentleman at the wheel banged his head against the wheel in the moment of impact. It was all captured on the rear-facing dashcam of the Audi SUV it rear-ended.

The footage is also available at the bottom of the page. The Daily Mail says that the Audi was driven by Dr. Syd Hasan, which was very fortunate for the driver of the Morgan, as he required medical assistance for about 10 to 15 minutes, before EMTs arrived.

As you can see in the video, the Morgan comes in fast. It’s only seconds before the impact that the driver realizes he’s speeding towards a stalled car and he hits the brakes hard. It’s too late, though, and the Morgan slams into the Audi, and is sent into the hard shoulder. The driver hits his head and appears in a complete state of confusion as the car steers off the road.

According to Dr. Hasan, though the driver of the Morgan appeared fine at first, he became sweaty and pale and required medical assistance. Hasan’s passenger is also in the medical profession so she helped, even though she too was dizzy from the crash. An off-duty nurse pulled over some time later and offered to assist until emergency personnel arrived.

“We slowed down with other cars at a busy roundabout when this gentleman came out of nowhere at 70mph and rammed his car into us from behind,” Dr. Hasan says. “My first reaction was that of shock but, being an emergency doctor, within seconds I was running to see if he was OK.”

“The gentleman was responsive initially and said he got distracted and lost focus. He also mentioned something about his satnav and also that he looked up too late,” he adds. “He became quite sweaty and pale and was taken to hospital.”

The Mail says the elderly driver is expected to make a full recovery. The occupants of the Audi SUV suffered “soft tissue injuries to their necks and backs” and were treated at the local hospital and released.
