SPEED TV to Air the 2011 AMA Pro Daytona 200

Marking the tenth consecutive year of coverage of the Daytona Bike Week, the SPEED network announced it has extended deal with the Daytona International Speedway. The SPEED broadcast team of Ralph Sheheen, Motorcycle Hall-of-Famer Jeff Emig and pit reporter Erin Bates opens Bike Week on March 5 at 8 p.m. ET, with the AMA Supercross action from the grass and dirt Daytona layout, designed by renown racer Ricky Carmichael.

SPEED brings back its signature “SPEED Cam,” a dedicated handheld camera riding at race speed on the famed Daytona International Speedway tri-oval apron, following Supercross riders as they maneuver through the “whoops.”

The following weekend, host Leigh Diffey is joined by “Mr. Daytona” Scott Russell and pit reporters Greg White and Jason Pridmore as SPEED delivers live coverage of The Daytona 200 (March 12, 1 p.m. ET, LIVE), an event that began in 1937 as a beach race.

“Ricky has designed a great track,” said Emig, whose racing career included 37 AMA national event wins. ”Having the starting line in the center of the track, going away from the grandstands, should give the fans an incredible sensation of the sound and smell of AMA Supercross … RC has put together a challenging combination of jumps, whoop-de-doos and corners that looks to be one that should give us yet another legendary Daytona Supercross event.”
