Massa. Felipe Massa. OK, perhaps that doesn’t sound the right way. Come to think about it, it doesn’t even need to, considering the Jaguar C-X75 is not James Bond’s hero car. Furthermore, the Williams Martini Formula One driver doesn’t look like the bad guy either. Nevertheless, that’s the configuration the British sportscar maker could find in the limited time they had before Spectre would hit the screens.
Jaguar’s C-X75 supercar featured in the new Bond installment made its Americas debut in Mexico City today with the Brazilian pro driver holding the wheel. Spectre will premiere in Mexico City on November 2, which is the same day the Formula One Gran Premio de Mexico will also take place. Since he was there anyway, Jaguar figured why not give it a try on the track too. It didn’t seem to bother Massa either.

“It was a thrill to take the wheel of a real stunt car used in a Bond movie. Jaguar partnered with Williams Advanced Engineering on the production of these stunning supercars, so it was great to experience some of what my colleagues have developed outside of F1. It was so much fun, and very exciting to be driving the Jaguar on a Spectre filming location here in Mexico City,” he said.

In the actual movie, however, the Jaguar C-X75 is driven by the latest Bond nemesis, Hinx, as they engage in one of the movie’s most iconic high-speed car chases. Actor Dave Bautista is playing the villain, and he was one lucky fellow considering he got the chance to drive the most advanced Jaguar ever created. Provided by Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) in collaboration with development partner Williams Advanced Engineering, the car truly is a wonder.

As we were telling you last month when the vehicle was displayed in Frankfurt, the original Jag concept had four 145 kW (194 hp) electric motors - one for each wheel - that together offered a total of 780 horsepower and a total torque of 1,180 lb-ft (1,600 Nm). Then there’s the range thing. The micro gas turbines from Bladon Jets (yes, jets) generated enough electricity to extend the range of the car to 900 km (559 miles). The movie version of the C-X75 is powered by Jaguar's 5.0-liter, supercharged V8, which “only” delivers 550 horsepower, more than enough to put a smile on Massa's face.
