Special Pre-War Cars to Race at Spa Francorchamps in September

Motor Racing Legends is a group that for years has been busy reviving the past glory of cars manufactured before World War II by allowing them to compete against one another in a racing event called Pre-War Sports Car Series.

Usually, the group allows entry in the races to all sports cars built before 1941, provided they meet a few simple criteria: they must be close to the original production specification, must be fitted with wings and lights and must use ordinary pump fuel.

So far, the series has been entered by owners of all the famous names of the age: Alfa Romeo, Alvis, Aston Martin, Bentley, Bugatti, Frazer Nash, Lagonda, MG, Riley and Talbot.

On September 14, at the track known as one of the most beautiful circuits in the world, Spa Francorchamps, Motor Racing will however allow entry in the race to cars that do not comply with the above specifications.

Their decision has already attracted owners of such vehicles, meaning the 40-minute pit stop race will allow us to see in action vehicles such as a Bentley 3/8 Special or a Parker GN.

Accompanying them will be the series' regulars, a host of other Bentleys manufactured between 1923 to 1929, a 1935 Aston Martin Ulster, a Talbot 105 or an Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Zagato.

“We have long been campaigning for the Pre-War cars to return to this amazing circuit,” said in a statement Motor Racing Legends chairman Duncan Wiltshire.

“It has been nine years since we last ran these cars here and I am very much looking forward to being part of the race.”

The Pre-War Sports Cars race lasts a maximum of 50 minutes and includes a mandatory pit stop. The organizers recommend two drivers are entered for every car. Those who own such a vehicle and are interested in attending as participants can still do so. More details can be found at the following link.
