Have you ever wondered whatever happened to the classic lightweight sportscar designed with a no-nonsense track purpose philosophy? If there’s one thing we can assure you of is that the concept’s not dead... especially in the Australian Outback.
In case you haven’t guessed yet, we’re talking about Spartan’s low volume track-focused car which was designed to offer the best road course experience without the fancy engineering found in a Ferrari or a Porsche.
Tipping the scales at only 500 kg (1,102 lbs), the carbon fiber and alloy two-seater roadster is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder Honda Integra Type-R-sourced engine that can be ordered either with 250 HP or 400 HP, the latter with a supercharger atop. The track vehicle also comes with lightweight shell bucket seats, CAD suspension and Yokohama R-spec tires.
Said to be “supremely agile and nimble through the turns”, the Spartan track vehicle is almost production ready, the company revealing that prototype testing have been completed this month.
The Australian "superlight track weapon" can be ordered for about $79,000 AUD, which mean approximately $82,240 or €62,890. Not cheap by any means, but you can’t get anything lighter than this and call it a race car!
