Spark Racing Technology has announced that their Spark-Renault SRT_01E Formula E race car will be introduced at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show next month.
The single-seater that will be raced throughout the inaugural 2014 Formula E season will sport a carbon fiber and aluminum monocoque chassis designed by Dallara and a McLaren electric powertrain that will deliver an electronically-limited power of 133 kW (180 bhp) that can go as high as 200 kW (270 bhp) in certain race conditions.
The Spark-Renault vehicle is rumored to accelerate to 62 mph (100 km/h) from a standing start in three seconds and reach an electronically-limited top speed of 140 miles per hour (225 km/h). The single-seaters will also feature special Michelin-designed tires that will last an entire race.
Still gathering competitors, the Formula E consist of only three teams at the time of writing: Drayson Racing, China Racing and Andretti Autosport. The 2014 season will have ten races across Europe, North America, South America and Asia.
