A more reckless gesture than drinking and getting behind the wheel of your car is drinking and doing a cocktail of all possible drugs – and then getting behind the wheel.

It happened in a town in the northeastern region of Spain, EuroNews reports. Police were tipped by phone that “several people were getting in a vehicle influenced by alcoholic beverages.” Little did they imagine the driver would also be on drugs, not just inebriated.

In fact, the driver tested possible for every imaginable drug, the report continues. “Police found high levels of cannabis, amphetamines/methamphetamine, cocaine, opiates; as well as alcohol, with a rate of 0,60 mg/l,” EuroNews says.

He failed the field sobriety test, so he was fined 1,000 euros and had 6 points deducted off his driver’s license.

Then, upon testing, he also came up positive for drugs. Cops gave him another 1,000 fine for this offense and took another 6 points off his license. His vehicle has also been impounded, so it doesn’t look like the guy will be driving anywhere, anytime soon.

Despite the shocking arrest, the number of car-related deaths in this region of Spain is at its lowest ever. Overall, though, figures show that the number of incidents and of casualties caused by drunk-driving in on the rise.

Just yesterday, Britain’s Ministry of Transport released figures to show the number of incidents was at its highest since 2012. The larger portion of casualties is still comprised of children and young adults, so that alone should serve as an alarm signal to anyone thinking having a couple of drinks and driving is ok.

Driving under the influence, either of alcohol or of drugs (or of both, in this dude’s case) can have fatal consequences and represents a danger both to yourself and to others. So don’t do it, don’t be that guy.
