Spania GTA Brought Out Its Updated Supercar in Geneva: the New GTA Spano

One of the more interesting cars in Geneva this year was definitely the GTA Spano from Spanish manufacturer Spania GTA (quite the tongue twister, right?). While people were more focused on the Koenigsegg stand, we took a closer look at what this thing brought to the table.

So you thought that the Huayra 6-liter engine was big, right? Well, think again as the Spaniards seem to be dead serious about having the biggest engine on display here, matching the almighty Bugatti Veyron in size but not in power as well.

The GTA Spano has a new 8-liter V10 twin-turbo setup that feeds the rear axle with 925 HP and 1,220 Nm (900 lb-ft) of torque via a 7-speed sequential gearbox that ‘is carbon synchronized’.

Couple that with the lightweight construction of the car and you get impressive specs, to say the least. In its body, the GTA Spano make use of carbon fiber and a premiere for the supercar segment: graphene. According to the company, this approach was taken to ensure the best rigidity and lightness for the monocoque.

Now, about those performance figures... We haven’t seen the car on the road to confirm these numbers but Spania GTA claims that the Spano will do 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds and will go up to a top speed of over 370 km/h (230 mph) and those two put it well within the supercar league.

Don’t think that you’ll be able to just waltz in a showroom and grab one though. Apparently, only 99 units will be made and some of them have already been accounted for as the PR people told us in Geneva. No word on the price you’d have to pay for one though...
