Back in June, a couple of BMW enthusiasts, part of the Bimmer community in South Africa, got together on an empty airfield to raise some money for charity and have some fun. The resulting photo shoot is absolutely amazing!

You might be tempted to think that South Africa might not be the best place in the world to find a huge BMW community but you’d be dead wrong. With the German company having a fully working plant near Pretoria since 1968, the country is actually home to some of the most hardcore fans of the brand.

The entire venue took place on the Air Force Station Swartkop, home of the South African Air Force Museum. It’s a place with a rich history, being established for the first time in 1921, being the first air base in the country’s history.

The gathering was dominated by a couple of airplanes and helicopters that even gave the photographer a ride to allow him and get some aerial shots of the cars. It wasn’t just any helicopter either but a military-grade Puma.

Amongst the cars you’re about to see are some of our personal favorites from BMW’s history including a 2002, E39 M5, E46 M3s and newer, more radical versions like the F10 M5 and 1M Coupe that still haunts us to this day.
