Sordo Considering Ford Switch for 2011 WRC

Yes, he helped out Sebastien Loeb to conquer his 5th consecutive World Rally Championship crown last year and yes, he is getting better and better on asphalt in the 2010 WRC season, but Spanish driver Dani Sordo is not yet convinced he wants to continue his career with Citroen.

According to Sordo, his current team Citroen has already made him an offer, but he did not disclose the terms of that potential deal. Meaning it's not known whether Citroen will field him alongside Sebastien Loeb and Sebastien Ogier (confirmed for 2011 a few weeks back) in the works team, or “relegate” him to Citroen Junior Team.

On the other hand, the Spaniard admitted having started discussions over a potential switch to Ford with the Cumbrian-based team's boss Malcolm Wilson and motorsport chief Gerard Quinn, although nothing definitive has been reached.

We talk (to Ford), but it's just like we are talking now, nothing official. Citroen has made me an offer. I don't know what will happen,” admitted Sordo, according to Autosport.

Quinn is yet to confirm what kind of effort Ford will make in the 2011 World Rally Championship, once the team will debut the new 1.6-litre turbocharged Fiesta WRC. Just like in Citroen's case, Ford is still debating whether to tackle the 2011 campaign with 3 works drivers – Mikko Hirvonen, Jari-Matti Latvala and, potentially, Dani Sordo – or sign a 3rd driver for their satellite team Stobart M-Sport.

We're still in discussions with a number of additional drivers and making an assessment of what we can do for next season. Right now they are private discussions which we would prefer not to take any further. But certainly we're looking for ways to improve our competitive strength,” said Quinn.
