Sonic the Hedgehog Gets Unique Honda Civic as 25th Anniversary Present

While the rest of the world is busy with that awfully distracting game called Pokemon I-Don’t-Look-Where-I’m-Going GO, the peeps at Comic-Con and Honda have created a present for Sonic the Hedgehog. Cooler than a yeti eating frozen spaghetti, isn’t it?

Created by Japanese artist Naoto Ohshima in 1991 and known around the world thanks to countless speed-based games, the spiky teal hedgehog celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The one-of-a-kind Honda Civic Sedan featured in the adjacent gallery is one hell of a birthday gift if you ask me.

The donor vehicle is a Civic Touring Sedan equipped with the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, which produced 174 ponies at 6,000 rpm. Even if it had ten times the given output, Sonic the Hedgehog couldn’t care less because he's the fastest guy around. If you want to see the car IRL, I have bad news.

The Sonic Civic will make its debut tonight at the House of Blues in San Diego. The problem with that is, the Sonic the Hedgehog 25th Anniversary party is sold out. Boo! Nevertheless, the Sonic Civic is more than just a wrap job.

Created by Fox Marketing Cars of York, Pennsylvania, Honda’s tribute to Sonic the Hedgehog is gifted with lots of interesting goodies. The custom rear wheels are painted in similar colors to the blue hedgehog’s trademark red shoes. The front wheels are supposed to represent the game's gold rings.

Honda has yet to provide pics of the cabin, yet the Japanese automaker assures us that the interior benefits from Katzkin Blue Leather and logos reading “Sonic the Hedgehog 25h Anniversary” on the seats.

In the trunk, the one-off 2016 Honda Civic hides an audio-visual system from Rockford Fosgate with two 500-watt 10-inch subwoofers, two 500-watt 400-watt amplifiers, and a floor-mounted flip-up/down 32-inch television. Why a TV, you’re asking? To play Sonic the Hedgehog games, of course!
