Not so long after the launch of the iPhone 7, the first complaints came rolling in. This time, some users complain that the Bluetooth does not operate as it should when connecting their phones with their cars.

Most problems have affected BMW owners that have the ConnectedDrive system without Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity.

Some owners of these vehicles have complained that they cannot stream music from their phones to their cars via Bluetooth. The problem requires a reboot of the smartphone, which fixes the issue until a reconnection is made.

The complaints mentioned that music is streamed over Bluetooth at first, but the ConnectedDrive freezes in five to ten seconds after it begins playing.

According to MacRumors, the problem is not singular to BMW cars, as it has also affected owners of Kia and Hyundai owners. There is no link between this issues except for the same phone, the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

It appears that the problem is not bound to iOS 10 itself, as many owners say that previous versions of the iPhone operate as intended in the same conditions.

This issue also occurred two years ago after the launch of iOS 8 and the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. At the time, Apple fixed the problem with the iOS 8.1 update, while the same problem was solved afterward for iPhone SE users with the iOS 9.3.2. update.

Apple had reportedly told customers that the issue would be repaired when the next iOS update is available, which is currently in development.

As a preparative measure, BMW owners are recommended to update the multimedia unit’s software to the latest version of the ConnectedDrive system.

BMW has also replied to the concerned customers, and they were informed that the brand is working with Apple to enable connectivity with the iPhone 7, as they still had to complete testing the smartphone. BMW has also suggested users to get a ConnectedDrive update from its website, as well as an update from Apple for the phone’s operating system.
