As the flagship of the General Motors SUV lineup, the 2015 Cadillac Escalade is the final piece to the lineup of all-new SUVs that went on sale earlier in the year. The problem is that some Escalade buyers are having to wait months to take delivery of their big luxury SUV due to delays stemming from various quality checks at the Arlington, TX assembly plant.
The delays, according to Automotive News, are a result of the higher-quality materials used in the cabins that is requiring extra time to ensure proper fit, finish and installation. While it’s never bad to ensure 100 percent quality from a $70,000-plus SUV, it is assuredly frustrating to these customers waiting for their vehicles to arrive. To remedy this situation, a GM representative was quoted in the report as saying that more personnel have been sent to the plant to speed up the inspection process.

In addition to this challenge, GM also must keep up with the orders and deliveries of the other popular SUVs produced at the plant such as the Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban and the quartet of GMC Yukon models. This means that GM isn’t able to bump some of these vehicles off the delivery trucks just to get the Escalades into customers’ hands faster. The good news on this front is that GM is stepping up the delivery process to get the Escalades from the assembly line to the showroom in just two weeks rather than four weeks, which is what the average has been lately. In the end, GM hopes to be able to get the Escalade from Arlington to customers in just one week.

Despite these delays, the 2015 Cadillac Escalade has been a hot seller for Cadillac. Sales on the year are up about 27 percent on the year, and dealers that do have inventory are able to sell the SUVs off quickly with inventory of just 27 days and 28 days for the Escalade and stretched Escalade ESV, respectively.
