Soccer Star Cheick Tiote Poses With Bottle of Champagne While Driving, Apologizes Later

Newcastle United’s defensive midfielder Cheick Tiote realized driving while holding a bottle of champagne is not exactly the right behaviour for a professional Premier League player, so he ended up publicly apologizing over his deed. The 28-year old soccer star immediately apologized once the video and pictures of his little party night were published by The Sun. “I deeply regret my actions and am sorry for any offense caused. I realize as a professional footballer I should set a good example with my behaviour on and off the pitch,” Tiote said.

The Newcastle football club also released a statement in which they expressed their disagreement with the midfielder, claiming that “clearly his actions were not appropriate” and that they have explained the sportsman what the rules are.

In the video we were mentioning earlier, the fellow can be seen handing the bottle to a friend in the back seat, urging him to take a sip. He took his eyes off the road for several seconds and grinned at the camera instead of looking where he was going.

Apart of the fact we will never agree with driving under the influence, we would also like to point out that people should take better care when they make friends. Reports are the video was taken by one of his pals in his native Ivory Coast...
