You know what they say: “some guys just don’t know where to stop”… and the chap in the video below is just showing the world how good knowing when and where to stop is in real life. Well, the “where” part is open to some arguments, but after all, it all matters that the fellow is safe and sound, and so is his sled.
The story is self-explanatory and unfolds in only seconds. A guy rides his snowmobile uphill through a forest, completely oblivious of what might be waiting for him once he reaches the crest. Honestly, nothing seems to be wrong in this picture, as the weather is just perfect for some motorized outdoor fun.

Well, people who are well-acquainted to sledding in such scenery will tell you that you can never be 100% sure that the top of the hill is safe. Avalanches do occur even without a sled weighing several hundred pounds treading on the snow, and a trained eye could easily detect spots with potential dangers.

As the sled reaches the summit and starts following the crest line, a huge chunk of snow is dislocated and plunges into the abyss. The snowmobile and its rider miraculously remaining perfectly balanced between the safety of the snow-capped slope on the right and the chasm on the left.

I must confess my heart skipped several beats watching all this. However, the rider did not panic, much to his sheer luck. After coming to a halt and contemplating the snow falling onto the mountain slope, he carefully got off the sled and pulled it back to safety. I just wonder what the look on his friends’ faces was when he showed them the footage.
