You know what really grinds my gears? FoMoCo took the veils off the track-focused 2016 Shelby GT350 Mustang in January at the Detroit Motor Show. Though June is a hair's breadth away from us, there’s no word on the output of that noisy 5.2-liter flat-plane crank Voodoo V8 beast lurking under the hood.
Not only that, but the pricing and fuel economy figures are also kept under lock and key as if it’s governmental intel. It’s been half a year already, and the waiting game grows tiresome. The first official teaser for the sixth-gen Chevrolet Camaro was released on March 16th and the 2016MY debuted two months later.

What’s more, General Motors released preliminary output and fuel economy figures for the engine lineup. All things considered, the all-new Camaro kept us on our toes, but many get the feeling Ford is beating around the bush with the 2016 Shelby GT350’s figures.

Until the FoMoCo gang decides whether it’s 520 or more horsepower from the naturally aspirated tower-of-power, a member of the Mustang6G forum managed to get up close and personal to a Shadow Black Shelby GT350R and its window sticker. Spoiler alert: there’s no info on pricing, performance figures and EPA data.

But here’s a rather curious thing - the NHTSA rated the rear seats-less GT350R four stars. The Shelby-ified GT350R received 5 stars overall, with the rollover safety crash “to be rated.” Built by FoMoCo in Flat Rock and sold to FoMoCo “FRAP VPC” in Woodhaven, Michigan, the 2016 Shelby GT350R comes with a 3-year/36,000-mile (57,936 km) bumper to bumper warranty.

Optional equipment comes in the guise of SYNC Gen III infotainment, a stereo system with CD playback capability and the SVT Touring Package. Mum knows what the latter contains, but our hunch is that the SVT Touring pack adds dual-zone climate control and satellite navigation, among other day-to-day amenities.
