Smokey Robinson to Advertise the Chinese Electric MPV

A Chinese built electric SUV meant for the state, advertised by a Motown legend... A strange association of elements, but one that might prove to be just the thing Green Automotive Company needed to get things going and its Zotye model on the US streets.

Having already unloaded the first batches of the model in the US, Green Automotive is now getting ready for what will likely be the toughest task ahead: sell the electric SUV. To do that, the company hired ever since last year Smokey Robinson as a spokesperson and the main promoter of the model.

The first public encounter between the singer, the company and the Chinese products took place this week in Compton, California. This time, however, the artist was asked to film a promotional video showing the second product Green Automotive plans to sell in the US, an electric MPV.

"Smokey Robinson is genuinely excited about Green Automotive because he understands this electric car can help reduce our dependence on foreign oil, create jobs in the community and leave our children with a much better environment because people will have more options to drive automobiles that don't pollute the air,"
said Steve Wells, Green Automotive VP Product Development.

The details on the MPV that Smokey will be advertising are not yet known, but it's likely the specs will be similar to those on the Zotye SUV. The SUV is powered by a lithium-ion battery which sends the power to an electric motor, is capable of a top speed of up to 70 mph and a range of up to 150 miles.

The model will retail in the US for $35,995, starting the second quarter of the year, complete with A/C & heating system, power windows and power locks, DVD audio system, integrated electric system monitoring screen and fast charging port.
