Smoke Show Dodge Challenger Is the Muscle Car’s Latest Birthday Outfit

Believe it or not, it’s been 50 years since the Dodge Challenger came to be. At the time late to the muscle car party, the nameplate is one of the few original muscle cars to have survived to this day.

To celebrate the anniversary, Dodge dressed the Challenger in new special clothing and will release it into the wild soon: the Dodge Challenger 50th Anniversary Commemorative Edition. This special variant of the car will become available for the R/T, Scat Pack 392 and Scat Pack 392 Widebody models and includes only visual upgrades.

“Muscle car season is in full swing and Dodge is continuing the 50th anniversary celebration of the Dodge Challenger with a new 50th Anniversary Commemorative Edition and a new colour option,” the carmaker said in a statement.

For the exterior, the carmaker came up with a brand new color called Smoke Show - the package can be paired with a total of 6 other color schemes, while Smoke Show will be available for other Challenger and Charger models. Sprayed all around the car’s body, it would be offset by a Satin Black-painted hood and black roof.

The high-impact modifications Dodge dreamed up for the car include special badges on the fenders and spoilers, LED illuminated “50” logos, and special gold wheels behind which Gunmetal brakes are visible.

The changes for the interior include the availability of a carbon fiber instrument panel, the usual complement of badges and logos, Nappa and Alcantara on various surfaces, and white-faced gauges with yellow accents.

As a touch of finesse, the startup animation of the car’s infotainment system has been changed to show a 1970 Challenger.

Dodge did not say when the Challenger 50th Anniversary Commemorative Edition will become available, nor did it make any mention of pricing. Full details on the package, as released by Dodge Canada, can be found in the press release section below.
