The reliability of the Toyota Hilux is the thing of legends, and it's almost certainly why this truck is the first choice for anyone looking to buy a true workhorse of this size.
Unlike other pickups, the Hilux never went down the lifestyle path. Sure, you can find accessories to turn them into your somewhat flashy daily drivers, but that's not what Toyota wants you to see whenever you look at its pickup truck. These things are built to last and to pay for themselves through work.

Its reputation has been built over many years, but close to a decade ago, a certain British tv car show chipped in as well. Back when Top Gear was still a thing, Clarkson, May, and Hammond decided to put the Japanese truck to test by essentially trying to destroy the vehicle through a series of tests one could very well call 'torture'.

The result was truly surprising, and it immediately became one of the most famous Top Gear moments in the show's entire history. The red Toyota simply refused to give up. With just minimal tinkering from a mechanic, its engine would fire up every single time while its wheels, mangled as they were, would at least attempt to turn. Cue the uplifting music and it made for one very emotional tv moment - the kind you wouldn't expect from a car show.

Now, somebody appears to have reenacted the moment in real life as this footage captured in Thailand clearly shows. This blue double-cab Toyota Hilux is absolutely trashed, and yet it manages to drive - and in a straight line no less. By the looks of it, it seems like something really heavy fell on top of it, almost dead center. A tree, perhaps? We'll never know.

The front end looks untouched, which could make the whole feat seem less impressive, but even if the engine is intact, the chassis doesn't appear to be. And yet all the important mechanical bits function well enough to allow this man to take his Hilux wherever he is going. Hopefully either a junkyard or a very good and very cheap bodywork specialist.
