With just a few months until the third generation of the lilliputian smart fortwo and the second generation of the forfour will appear into the spotlight, smart has decided to keep everyone's engines on by presenting a teaser video of the two models.
In short, the following footage shows pre-production prototypes of both the fortwo and its forfour bigger brother while doing the obligatory winter tests near Arjeplog, in Northern Sweden.

Obviously, there isn't a single design detail - exterior or interior - which gets through the heavy and distinctive camouflage, but the overall styling and proportions of the two models are pretty evident.

As some of you know already, the 2015 smart fortwo and forfour will share their platform with the 2015 Renault Twingo, with around 70% of the forfour being identical to the French model.

In case it wasn't obvious by now, both models will be rear-engined and rear-wheel drive, meaning that they should have some pretty fun driving characteristics, despite the fact that their engines won't raise any eyebrows with their amount of oomph.

Speaking of which, both the fortwo and the forfour will share at least three variants of a Renault-sourced three-cylinder engine, in either naturally-aspirated or turbocharged forms, while the transmission choices will include either a manual or a double-clutch.

The fortwo is reported to offer a record-breaking turning circle and much better handling characteristics thanks to an increased width, while parking should be as a breeze as ever thanks to the model keeping its length virtually identical to the current model.

Expect both models to be unveiled sometime in the summer, with the official launch to happen in October, at the 2014 edition of the Paris Motor Show.
