The smallest production electric car you can buy was just launched at the 2013 Guangzhou Motor show, from where it will be available in every Chinese smart dealership.
Already sold in Europe, the US, Canada and Japan since 2012 the tiny smart fortwo electric drive is what you may call a best-seller in it segment in Germany.

“Our smart electric drive was one of the first all-electric cars and is the clear market leader in Germany. We are now bringing this successful vehicle to China, and are the first European manufacturer to launch an all-electric car on this market. Offering powerful driving pleasure with zero local emissions, the smart electric drive is perfectly suited to China's big cities.” said Annette Winkler, Head of smart.

Powered by a 75 hp and 130 Nm (96 lb ft) of torque engine, the smart fortwo electric drive is no slouch in city traffic, as it can reach 60 km/h (37 mph) in 4.8 seconds. Its 17.6 kWh lithium-ion battery gives it a range of 145 km (90 miles). We are now waiting for a long-wheelbase version to arrive in China as well (don't laugh, it could happen).
