Even though the summer has ended for quite a while now, AutoGuide is apparently on a different timezone and has recently put up a Top Ten Cheapest Convertibles in the United States list.
We don't mind, even though we're based in a temperate climate zone and convertibles here have pretty much closed their tops for at least five or six months from now.

Naturally, the cheapest convertible on AutoGuide's list is the smart fortwo cabriolet, which starts at just $18,640. Sure, in the United States this type of car usually gets mostly laughs at a stop lights, but the fun factor is actually right up there with any other convertible and maybe even more from some points of view.

With a rear engine and rear-wheel drive, you can pretty much call it a pocket sized version of a Porsche 911 to your friends, until people actually see you driving it, that is. We'll be waiting next summer for the Top Ten Most Rugged 4x4s, especially since the smart fortwo is about to get replaced by its third generation in 2014.
