Daimler is presenting the smart escooter ahead of the vehicle’s Paris Auto Show debut.
The company describes it as a two-wheeler with the characteristic advantage of the electric smart fortwo: compact dimensions, emissions-free and fun to drive.
The vehicle comes with multiple safety functions that offer protection in the crowded city traffic and not only, with the list including a special airbag, ABS and Blind Spot Assist. The vehicle will also attract new customers to the brand as it does not require a car driving license.
The escooter is powered by a disc-shaped wheel hub motor placed in the rear wheel. Despite its compact size, the electric unit delivers 4 kW (5.4 hp) of power. The company promises that the scooter will allow the rider to perform swift acceleration maneuvers, as its torque is available from the start. The two-wheeler offers a top speed of 28 mph (45 km/h).
The vehicle features a 28 volt lithium-ion battery pack. This has a capacity of 80 Ah and can offer a range of up to 62 mph (100 km). The battery can be charged using a standard household outlet in a time of between 3 and 5 hours
As the brushless direct current hub drive is mounted in the rear wheel, the body of the vehicle offers more storage space. The front and the rear wheels, which come in a 13 inch size, are mounted on single-sided swing arms. The front tire has a size of 130/60 while the rear one has a size of 140/65.
The smart escooter comes with intelligent features such as LED technology and a smartphone connection that also includes a special app.
