Part of the “terrifying” adjective comes from the shaky camera movements and part from the robot-gargling-with-rusty-nails-sound of the M159 V8 in the SLS AMG GT, but together they offer an aural YouTube experience as long as you have a nice set of speakers and the volume up.
Earlier today we were telling you that the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG facelift is going to ditch its glorious normally-aspirated, 6.2-liter V8 in favor of a newly-developed twin-turbocharged, four-liter V8 that's going to offer more power, more torque, a much better fuel consumption and emissions but also most likely a much less ear-pounding exhaust sound.
We have mixed feelings about that new and the following video is part of the reason. Sure, the AMG-built and developed M159 engine is a bit too old-school for modern emission and fuel consumption standards but there's currently nothing out there that sounds and feels as good as this monster of an engine.
Don't believe us? Just pump up the volume of your speakers and enjoys the cacophonous symphony emanating from that exhaust and tell us how a numbed down turbocharged engine is better for the SLS AMG.
