The second most powerful but most definitely the fastest on a track AMG road car in history has started life as an already bonkers Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.
The Black Series version is like an SLS AMG on steroids, so it not only talks the talk but it also more than walks the walk.
Let us explain: the SLS AMG GT3-inspired bodykit screams high laterals Gs from the distance, while the racing-inspired modifications made to the glorious M159 engine, the standard car's track and suspension have pretty much transformed the SLS AMG into the closest thing you can get to a Le Mans GT3 racer that you can also shop with.
Compared to the “regular” SLS, the Black Series has a host of modifications which would almost make it an entirely different model, which from some points of view actually is.
The normally-aspirated, 6.2-liter, V8 engine has been pushed to deliver no less than 631 hp and 635 Nm (468 lb ft) of torque, which are enough to catapult the SLS AMG Black Series from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.6 seconds, which coincidentally is a bit less than it would take you to pronounce the model's full name.
We only drove its non-Black Series and Roadster version and were more than impressed with the SLS, so you can only guess how the Aussies from Cars Guide were flabbergasted by it on the Willow Springs track.
