Arguably the fastest road-going Mercedes-Benz in history, the Black Series version of the SLS AMG just received another reason to brag, and it is in the shape of the Auto Bild Sportscars “Car of The Year 2013”.
Voted by no less than 77,218 Auto Bild Sportscars readers, the award went to the baddest Black Series after being single-handedly chosen out of 143 vehicles from 17 categories.
The “Sport Car of The Year” title goes for a second time to an SLS, after last year it was won by the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT.
As most of you know, the SLS AMG Black Series is the most capable production Mercedes-Benz car in history, especially when talking about track numbers, with the model achieving a Nurburgring Nordschleife time of just 7:25 minutes.
Powered by the baddest incarnation of the M159 engine, which delivers no less than 631 hp and 635 Nm (468 lb ft) of torque, it can launch from naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.6 seconds, which coincidentally is a bit less than how much it takes to pronounce its entire name in one go.
