The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series is currently the most hardcore track-ready model in the current AMG lineup and probably in the company's history.
It's legendary M159 engine might be replaced next year, so if you have the obligatory deep pockets you should probably jump and get one before it gets an all-new twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8.
The 631 hp (622 bhp) and 635 Nm (468 lb ft) of torque developed by the 6.2-liter, normally-aspirated V8 under that ginormous hood are more than enough to scare the bejeezus out of any inexperienced driver on the track if the electronic stability control is switched off, so Jason Torchinsky from Jalopnik was advised by Mercedes-Benz driving instructors to keep it on.
In a press event held on the Willow Springs raceway in California, the guys from Jalopnik were invited to test the AMG monster on the track along with other American journalists and they were nice enough to offer a well-written review of the event.
While not the most technical-filled review we have ever read, Torchinsky's humorous approach to explaining the car and his opinions about certain elements are always a fun read. Check his SLS AMG Black Series track review for yourself if you don't believe us.
