Celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance, Mercedes-Benz will feature a collection of iconic as well as new vehicles at the event, set to take place at the Ritz-Carlton grounds between March 12-14, 2010.
The displays includes the legendary Le Mans-winning 1952 300 SL and 1956 300 SL "Gullwing" Coupe, along with the 2011 SLS AMG.
The 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is the first vehicle entirely designed by AMG. The car will be produced in limited edition, featuring Gullwing doors and equipped with a AMG 6.3-liter, front-mid V8 engine that develops 563 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. The SLS AMG will be the safety car for the 2010 Formula One season.
Also on display will be Mercedes-Benz E-Klasse Cabriolet, a two-door, four-seat, drop-top version of the E-Klasse Coupe introduced in mid-2009.
The car will be available at Mercedes-Benz dealerships starting May 2010, featuring the world's-first AIRCAP, a technology that reduces cabin turbulence and wind draft for all seat occupants with the push of a button. This innovation combined with the AIRSCARF neck-level heating system allows for top-down driving during all four seasons.
"The SLS AMG and Gullwing displays at the 15th anniversary of the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance are top examples of Mercedes-Benz historical significance and major contributions with the automobile industry," said Stephen Cannon, VP of Marketing, MBUSA.
"The iconic 1954 Gullwing represents the leading innovation Mercedes-Benz is known for throughout history and the SLS AMG sets a new standard for supercars of the future just like the 300 SL did over 50 years ago," added Cannon.
