SLR Red and Yellow Edition by Hamann

Last year Hamman introduced a reworked Mercedes McLaren SLR supercar as the black and white Vulcano Edition. This year, Hamann decided to throw back on the market some new photos with the new red and yellow Vulcano units. Unfortunately, there were no details released to go with the photos, so we can only assume that they will join the 2008 model as additional peers, not as upgrades.

Both cars feature an interior crafted with the same colors as the exterior. The released batch of picture also include a few factory insights, for enthusiasts.

The SLR Vulcano Edition had a modified engine. Hamann turned up the boost with a new pulley, custom exhaust manifolds and tuned ECU to bring output up to 700 hp, a total increase of 74 hp.

In order to keep the temperature down, Hamann had to add another water pump, and to make better use of extra grunt, fiddled with the transmission’s control unit. The time needed to reach 100 km/h is down to 3.6 seconds.

Front and rear wings, side skirts, hood, diffuser and new spoiler were replaced with carbon fiber pieces. Edition Race 21-inches wheels were fitted at all four corners and wrapped in 255/30 (front) and 345/25 (rear) rubbers.

Would you buy a red or yellow SLR? We don’t think so. As far as performance goes, the Vucano package is addressed to real enthusiasts. Hoping for a gold and silver edition pretty soon. Costumers in Dubai really need it...
