When the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren went out of production back in 2010, there were some peeps at McLaren who fancied the model so much that they didn't want to let it go just yet, despite the Germans severing their F1 connection with the Brits in the meantime.
Quite a few months after the SLR's production ended in Woking, McLaren's Special Operations division announced that they will manufacture up to 25 special edition versions of the supercar by converting existing models.

This is how the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren Edition was born, with only a handful of the cars having been finished until now.

Back in October we were telling you about the lucky buggers at Piston Heads, who actually managed to have a go in one of the converted, or should we say perverted, SLR models by MSO (McLaren Special Operations).

Needless to say, their review kind of made us want to fully experience the car ourselves, but that is obviously close to impossible for us.

Not for you though, as chassis number 003 from the handful of SLR McLaren Edition models built is currently for sale. If you have GBP 279,950 lying around, you might as well go for it, because this is by far the rarest SLR in the world.
