When you find yourself behind the wheel of a 550 hp Jaguar F-Type R and a guy with an E30 BMW M3 wants to drag race, you can show respect to the iconic Bimmer, but expecting the senior M3 to beat you usually isn't on the menu.
However, if that M3 happens to be a sleeper, the situation can reach the attention-worthy status of the events showcased in the video at the bottom of the page.

The Jag and the M3 met during a recent drag racing event, with the two engaging in a rolling start battle. E30 M3s are rare enough in standard form, but the owner of this machine decided to pull an engine swap stunt.

Now, before anybody starts throwing rotten tomatoes at the idea of messing with a BMW Motorsport icon, you should take into account that the owner at least kept the natural aspiration spirit of the car alive.

The engine bay of this M3 is occupied by the 5.0-liter V10 heart of the E60 BMW M5, but the interesting part is that you couldn't tell that just by looking at the car.

With the exception of the wheels, the M3 looks just like it did when it left the factory some three decades ago. Heck, even the exhaust tips can keep a secret.

Sure, the driver of the F-Type R was well aware of the E30's heart transplant, but the man decided to play the game anyway for the sport of it and we're glad he did so.

Check out the clip below to see the two duking it out on an airfield runway, with the Jaguar being used as the camera car.

P.S.: Given the fact that the Jag's blown 5.0-liter V8 and the M5's atmospheric 5.0-liter V8 are both famous for their voices, the resulting soundtrack is a delicious one.
