Slammed cars are like a fetish - irresistible for those who have it and almost impossible to understand for those outside the community. And when such a quirk involves a Ferrari 488 Pista, you can expect the result to split opinions like nothing else.

And we're not just discussing this on a theoretical level. In fact, I've brought along an example of the Prancing Horse special edition that has been given such a treatment. For the record, this Fezza comes dressed in Grigio Scuro.

Now, there are two main paths to bringing one's vehicle closer to the road. The first involves air suspension, while the latter has to do with lowering springs.

Well, the 488 Pista we have here comes with the shorter springs. You see, aficionados who jump aboard the slammed train are of two main types, depending on what they target. So while certain gear heads adore the idea of the car almost touching the road, others are crazy about the microscopic gap between the wheel and the arch.

And the description of the Instagram post portraying this Maranello machine clearly lets us know in which boat the owner is.

"Pista now lowered on new springs. Now it looks the proper ride height without the massive wheel gaps. Looking good," we are being told.

Of course, it's only natural to wonder about the effects such a job has on the drivability. Wellm, this 720 horsepower monster gets driven around in Arizona and, apparently, the condition of the roads in that part of the country allows for such chin-down stunts.

Now, you've probably noticed the stark contrast created by the yellow bits on the car. However, while the stripes covering the top of the Ferrari and the brake calipers came that way from the factory, you should know the yellow pinstriped on the sides of the track special are an aftermarket job, with the owner having turned to vynil for this visual stunt.
