Skybet Sees Alonso, Hamilton Favorites for 2010 Title

The famous British betting house of Skybet today released the latest odds for the upcoming 2010 season of the Formula One Championship. Quite logical, the odds suffered some dramatic changes following the first test of the winter in Valencia, during which Ferrari's Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso easily dominated the entire 3 days of running.

Consequently, the 2-time world champion from Ferrari has now gone up in the “standings,” benefiting from an 11/4 odd to become king of the Formula One action for the 3rd time in career. Leader until a few days ago, McLaren Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton has now dropped to second favorite for the F1 crown, sitting on a 7/2 odd.

While Michael Schumacher remained the 3rd favorite to become world title this year, the odds of that happening have also dropped as a result of his latest statements in Valencia. As he admitted to the media that race wins are unlikely to happen at least during the first part of the season, Skybet now sees him as 4/1 favorite, as compared to 7/2 a few weeks ago.

Sebastian Vettel remained at 13/2 since he is yet to take his Red Bull RB6 to the track this winter, while Felipe Massa has an 8/1 odd at clinching his first world title in the series. Following his poor performance at the wheel of the McLaren MP4-25 this week, Button also dropped to 8/1, ahead of Nico Rosberg and Mark Webber.

On the contrary, the BMW Sauber F1 drivers boosted their way into the Top 15 following the Valencia running, which saw both Kamui Kobayashi and Pedro de la Rosa clinch runner-up place throughout the 3 days of testing. The two now rest at 40/1 and 50/1 respectively, same as Renault's Robert Kubica (50/1).
