Just when you thought it was safe to come out with your little Peugeot 107 or Ford Ka and look proud about it, we have yet another Volkswagen Group city car to bring to your attention, this time from the Czech subsidiary Skoda.
The car is called the Citigo and is the Czech automaker’s smallest offering. Deliveries in the home market will start at the end of this year, while the UK and the Rest of Europe will take delivery of the Citigo in the summer of 2012.
It will be available in both three and five-door configurations. Most of the body panels are identical to those on the Volkswagen, but the front end bring the usual Skoda grille and badges. Other differences concern the new alloy wheels, the headlights and the pattern in the taillamps.
No photos of the interior are available, but we’re guessing the metal skins on the door are still visible and the design is as light on your wallet as possible. Like the Up!, the Citigo will be offered with a portable navigation system featuring a 5-inch screen.
As for the engine range, that’s made up of two three-cylinder 1.0-liter engines delivering either 60 or 75 horsepower.

We think it’s a looker, and it should sell provided dealers can market it well enough. It might also be a bit cheaper than the Volkswagen, which will make it an even simpler buying decision for some people.
