We know this model has sold that much and the other car about this much, but did you ever wonder what's the total model of Skoda cars ever made? According to a statement made today, 17,000,000 models have rolled down the assembly line, most of which happened in the Czech republic.
It sounds like a big number, but there are individual models that have sold more. For example, Volkswagen announced back in 2013 that total production of Golf models had exceeded 30 million, almost twice a much as Skoda.

Still, the Czech brand is growing at a rapid pace. During 2014, they sold a record one million cars and the pace of growth has increased six-fold since 1991.

Over the coming years, Skoda plans to sell at least 1.5 million cars per year, potentially by 2020. This is going to come down to new products, like the recently launched Fabia and a bunch of new 4x4 models, targeting niches from the B- to the D-segment.

“Skoda is doing extremely well,” says Skoda CEO Prof. Dr. h.c. Winfried Vahland. “Producing 17 million vehicles since 1905 demonstrates the brand’s strength and sustained success. Since 1991, when Skoda joined forces with Volkswagen, we have manufactured more than 12 million cars. Now, we can definitely say we are established in the ‘Champions League’ of international volume manufacturers. Skoda will continue to grow over the coming years with new models.”

The first Skoda car was made in 1905 by founders Laurin and Klement. They probably couldn't have imagined the company they started would one day come up with something like the Superb sedan or that Skoda factories would be opened in Russia or China.

In fact, China is now Skoda's biggest single market, accounting for a massive 27% of their total sales. Mlada Bolesla to Beijing, this company is a force to be reckoned with on a global scale.
