Skoda to Make Rapid Variant with Classic Hatchback Shape in 2013

Shortly after the launch of the Rapid, Skoda has confirmed that it is in fact working on a ‘proper hatchback’ version of the car. According to autocar.co.uk, the car will draw inspiration from the Vision D concept - we hope it does, as the current version of the car is the epitome of blandness - we say.
Apparently, the car will feature a more “Golf-like” rear end, in order to sell the car in western Europe, which favours hatchbacks over their sedan counterparts. Also, while the new car will not be exactly like the Vision D concept, we say it is vital that it at least resembles it, to offset the blandness of the sedan in the Skoda range.

Expect to see it unveiled some time next year, more specifically towards the end of next year. We say Skoda should play its historic card more and now that they have reached financial stability, thanks in no small part to their Chinese effort, maybe they could make a ‘halo’ car which people would buy with their hearts, rather than their heads - the latter category being the actual people who buy Skodas in the first place.
